Kathie Bolles, PMHNP-BC

Kathie Bolles struggled with depression for more than 15 years, growing frustrated by the trial-and-error approach. She is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner and the founder of Mynd Works Psychiatry. In 2013, after meeting with countless patients taking psychoactive medication to treat their symptoms, she decided to expand her career by getting her Master of Science in Nursing.

Kathie understands that her patients are far more than simply the symptoms they're experiencing; each person has a rich, full life beyond their struggles with mental health. In her psychotherapy approach, she favors a "coaching" approach - acting more as a partner to her patients than typical providers.

Education

  • Board-certified in Neurofeedback by the Biofeedback Certification International Alliance (BCIA) (2004)
  • Master of Education in Learning Disabilities, Nicholls State University (1979)
  • Bachelor of Science in Education, Louisiana State University, (1975)

Melissa began her professional life as an elementary school teacher, learning specialist and psychological evaluator. Over time, her work with persons struggling with learning disabilities, attention deficits, brain injuries and brain-related disorders led to an interest in the study of the brain and eventually to a career in EEG and Neurofeedback.

Melissa is the EEG professional who will record your electroencephalogram to gather brain wave data needed for your brain wave analysis report. The EEG is a simple, painless and non-invasive procedure. Details about what to expect and how to prepare will be provided, along with the opportunity to discuss any questions you have, when you all connect to schedule an appointment.

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback or brain training, guides the brain toward more effective patterns of activity that relate to how we think, feel, learn, pay attention, and respond to stress—all of which can affect our work, learning, relationships and leisure activities. In Melissa’s practice, she works with children, adolescents and adults experiencing challenges in these areas using tools including biofeedback, neurofeedback, optimal breathing and heart rate variability training.
