Experience: Children, Adolescents and Adults (Adults only as PMHNP) addressing mood, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, substance abuse
and more.I enjoy people, kids, dogs, music and have a strong faith in God.

Depression and anxiety run in my large Italian family. Regretfully, I got some of those genes. At 30 years old, I became depressed. After
this, I started down the road of seeing various psychiatric providers who prescribed various medications most of which were ineffective. In
2006, my psychiatrist introduced me to a brain wave and genetic testing technology. It was amazing and after so many years, this data helped to get me well! It allows personalized treatment minimizing the trial and error of standard psychiatry. This allowed me to get well!

For obvious reasons, I became passionate about this approach and decided to develop Mynd Works Psychiatry Concierge Program to provide this life altering approach to as many people as possible. Despite being around over 20 years, I am in the only provider in Austin that offers the brain wave mapping treatment testing. In addition, I provide a coaching approach to my psychotherapy. This means that we are focused on the future not the past to create new solutions for your life. We become partners in your care.

I am a direct communicator committed to extraordinary and comprehensive care with a warm, welcoming and ‘real’ approach. I relate to you as a human being capable of most anything rather than as a disease or set of symptoms. I listen to and greatly value what you have to say. After all, you are the expert about yourself and your life. I often say that I don’t have the answers; I have the questions to collaboratively find our way to you being the best you possible. I go for remission. Mediocrity is not acceptable, unless it’s acceptable to you which I then have to respect. I care and you will not only know it, you will feel it. I believe that this approach is key to your trust in me, your partner in you having the life that you want and deserve.

I received my Bachelor of Science in Nursing and have practiced under that licensure for the past 40 years. In 1992, I received my Master’s of Counseling Psychology Degree and opened a private practice. Because I am always a nurse first, I would do a brief psychiatric assessment with my counseling patients. Since many were taking psychoactive medication, I found myself consulting with their psychiatrists in real time. This is when I realized that if I went back to college one more time, that I could do both psychotherapy and medication management. So in 2015, I received my Master’s in Nursing and opened a private psychiatric and psychotherapy practice here in Austin, TX.

Lindsey Anderson has experience treating adolescents and adults, addressing mood, anxiety, attention deficits, post-traumatic stress, insomnia, substance abuse and more. She enjoys her family, her friends, her pets, sports/fitness, the outdoors, people, and her strong faith in God.

“I have mental health concerns that run in my family as well, which encouraged me to switch from a career as a Family Nurse Practitioner to a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I was once a patient experiencing multiple “trial and errors” when trying to find the right medication for me. After completing the genetic testing, I had a lot more answers and have been very happy with the results. When I was told of the approach of Mynd Works Psychiatry, I immediately became interested. I believe in the approach to modernize medication management to help my patient’s overall well-being so that we might skip some of the trials and errors otherwise involved.”

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) : an evidence-informed, short-term, intensive treatment for treatment-resistant issues.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): this can unlock the place where past traumas are stored to access, process and heal from the symptoms of the event.

Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT): this can change your pattern of thinking as well as alter unhelpful thoughts or behavior through understanding and problem-solving.

Dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT): allows us to work on skills to handle emotions. This can be very helpful for those who may be inclined toward self-harm or intense negative emotions.

HeartMath EmWave: this is a form of biofeedback that teaches you to bring your thoughts, emotions, and body into balance, providing you with meaningful data to track progress.

Education

Melissa began her professional life as an elementary school teacher, learning specialist and psychological evaluator. Over time, her work with persons struggling with learning disabilities, attention deficits, brain injuries and brain-related disorders led to an interest in the study of the brain and eventually to a career in EEG and Neurofeedback.

Melissa is the EEG professional who will record your electroencephalogram to gather brain wave data needed for the PEER report. The EEG is a simple, painless and non-invasive procedure. Details about what to expect and how to prepare will be provided, along with the opportunity to discuss any questions you have, when you all connect to schedule an appointment.

Neurofeedback, also known as EEG biofeedback or brain training, guides the brain toward more effective patterns of activity that relate to how we think, feel, learn, pay attention, and respond to stress—all of which can affect our work, learning, relationships and leisure activities. In Melissa’s practice, she works with children, adolescents and adults experiencing challenges in these areas using tools including biofeedback, neurofeedback, optimal breathing and heart rate variability training.
